Happy Little Delights Website
Website design for a recipe site, building out the brand presence of a social media food blog. The website features personal food photography and recipes.
The goal of the site was to feel minimalist, fun, and journalistic, while appealing to young adult women. Additionally, the food photography should be the star of the site.

Inspiration
In order for the website to have a calming presence, inspiration was taken from existing sites that exude minimalism. Thus, Happy Little Delights’ website only uses black and white with images and small highlighted text as pops of color.
Wireframes
Initial wireframes explored the concept of having a gallery wall as the home page. However, after many iterations, the layout was simplified to provide more space for images to breathe.
Typography
Both the typefaces and layouts aim to create a warm, homely feeling by emulating aspects of recipe cards. As a result, Lora was chosen as the body type because the serif typeface feels old-fashioned and historical.
Reenie Beanie was used for small pieces of information and fun call-outs. This makes the website feel friendly and like a family member is providing culinary secrets and cheeky notes.
Lastly, Poppins was used as a strong sans-serif to provide contrast and grab attention for titles and headers.
Pages
The layout of each page is largely inspired by recipe cards in both the web and mobile experiences. Thus, each page is sectioned by thin lines, and uses bold images. On each individual recipe page, the ingredients are highlighted within the directions to exemplify the homemade, handwritten feel, and aid the reading experience. In addition, when picking a recipe, the name of each dish is available on hover so users can appreciate the photography while still having access to important information.
